Dynamic Kid is a private pediatric occupational therapy practice serving children and young adults ages 0-21 and their families in the Washington, DC metropolitan region.

What is OT?

Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.

There are many ways occupational therapy might help your child. The core of occupational therapy is to promote participation. This can mean:

  • helping a child who has concentration challenges to succeed in school

  • supporting a child with autism to socialize

  • helping a child who uses a wheelchair to play with his or her peers

  • helping a child with a developmental disability get dressed independently

  • helping all children to play with toys or use tools such as crayons

Occupational therapists evaluate your child (as well as the environment and the task or activity) and, with additional input from you, develop individualized goals that address resuming or pursuing things that are important to your child and family.

   Testimonials

"Our child, Teddy, began working with Cheranne in June of 2012. During this time, we saw Cheranne go beyond other OT's in understanding our son's complex medical condition and in developing a treatment plan designed to help our son reach his maximum potential in core balance, torso strength, organizational skills, sensory and fine motor skills, for example.  Cheranne conducted a very thorough therapy routine based on our son's needs and had a wealth of creative ideas. We also received great progress reports and follow-up suggestions for activities that we could do on our own. We could see that our son got an appropriate workout, had fun, and had a real sense of accomplishment from Cheranne's knowledgable routines. It was evident from Cheranne's kindness, professionalism, and creativity that we were very fortunate to have her focused on our son's occupational therapy needs. We credit Cheranne in helping our son achieve the skills, precision and life skills in movement that he possesses to this day!"

“As a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist, I co-treated in schools with Cheranne from August 2012 until June of 2016. During this time, I saw Cheranne not only use evidenced based practices with services provided, but I also observed the dedication, commitment and care she selflessly provided to students and their families.  Students and families in the metro Washington D.C. area truly benefit from Cheranne’s positive and empathetic nature because she always served as an advocate for all of her students. It was evident from her superb organizational skills and creative treatment plans and materials that she was most concerned with using a holistic approach to therapy that focuses on the whole child. She demonstrated an extreme level of cultural competence which is necessary when working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Our school team learned how to effectively work together to evaluate and treat students who received Occupational Therapy on our caseloads from our experiences with Cheranne.”

"I worked with Cheranne from July of 2012 until June of 2017. During this time, I saw Cheranne work effortlessly with students at my school. It was evident from her manner that she cared about the whole student.  What she did with our students that she was concerned with showed me how much she valued student growth. She worked well with the students at my school by providing meaningful experiences through various techniques that appeal to all learning styles. Our school team gained valuable knowledge as well as an awesome team mate from our experiences with Cheranne."
